Aw, come on, you Jared and Scottie...don't you see the REAL issue here?  

I think it's the difference between intellectual gifts in a state of 
potential and gifts that have been developed?  

An intelligent, though undeveloped, person will regularly reveal flashes of 
insight. Those of us with average and lower intelligence reveal flashes of 
insight as well, but for the exceptional I think it's a more common occurence.

Just imagine what the exceptional person could do with a disciplined, trained 
mind?  

The insights of the "uneducated intelligent" are often old hat when 
approached within the context of a specific discipline.  They don't get to be 
Really creative until they've studied.

So Jared's romantic view, if used as a substitute for work and education, 
stunts the development of potential.  But if those who completely ignore it 
will tend to dismiss genuine insight at times...
