Are we talking about a character in one story?
Are we talking about a character in the context of several stories?

When we imagine Buddy or Seymour can we limit them to any one story?
Does JDS stand close enough to either character to be the shadow of both?
of  neither?

When I think of Muriel as a character to admire, I honestly don't see what
Seymour saw to love, but if I situate myself in the Glass family I doubt
I'd see how Seymour loves God either.  In other words, understanding
Seymour's love for Muriel is a mystery that either stops at her looking a
lot like Charlotte or goes into who she is and how Seymour's joining her
advances something in both of them...
