Yes, alas, the Ranchan was, in truth, a real disappointment. Even if one
concedes that Vedanta is the key to the Glass Saga (and I don't), a
disappointing lack of familiarity with the specifics of the stories bothers.
But I still shall never forget him or his family. I'll seek out the Kurian.
