Does he? What makes you say that?

It's ambiguous, deliberately so, and I'm thinking that it can be inferred
that he's looking at her one last time because she's the cause or (and maybe
it's the shameless romantic in me) maybe he just wants One. Last. Look.

After all, when Sybil runs away, she does it *without regret*. Salinger
supplies no adjective to describe Seymour's look. It's just a look. So I'm
curious: why do you say that Muriel is the root of his discontent?
