Ha! A good one.
 It may not so much be sick hatred as just totally failing to consider other
people and their feelings. Salinger's new young wife makes quilts and he
says in front of her, people who can do this type of work never have really
fine minds. Peggy said that he would have been suprised at the suggestion
that he might have hurt her feelings. This same lack of consideration has
him writing Teddy out of the picture with Teddy knowing he will be leaving
his sister screaming and in therapy for years. Oh those enlightened scamps.
 It all really makes me think that those who set out with enlightenment as
their goal for themselves usually end up somewhere wholly other than that,
and say someone who just sets out to be a kind person may someday be not
only kind but the whole ball of wax as well whatever that means.
  I'm babbling now. Oh well.......
