For chrissakes. You're making my teeth itch. It's worse than thinking

It's because he goes against proper usage-- I remembered the oddity of the
est, but the misplaced omnia I'm afraid had escaped me. I could have sworn
it was "Omnia Gallia est divisa..." but I'll take your word for it,
Sagittarius Min. Scotiae.

Gaivs Ivlivs Caesar had every right to make free with his word order, I
suppose, though I'm understanding better now the actions of the Ides of
March: it's difficult to forgive a massacre of the tongue.

ObSal: I'm looking for a way to connect this to Salinger, but the more that
I think, the more that I'm convinced that Salinger avoids the Romans
completely in his canon. Can anyone think of an instance where anything
Roman is mentioned?
