I suspect that "Charlevoix" is a fairly common Quebecois variant, and since
much of Michigan was probably explored and settled by Quebecois....

It would be more fun to think of Hemingway in Charlevoix (PQ) than Salinger.
And he would have had more fun too. There'd be good fishing and hunting (of
normal species, NOT dachshunds!) Strong Brador beer. He could even show off
his French (?) at the local boite a chansons.
