I've sat on the edge of a cliff, with a bottle of rye--which is not to be
recommended.
And I seem to remember a learned discussion of various possible
interpretations of the Bard of Afton's quaint auld Scot's vocabulary in both
"Comin' Thru the Rye" and "Auld Lang Syne" sometime way back--either
immediately before or immediately after the Battle of Culloden. I'm sure
it's in the archive, but somebody else is going to have to show you the way
there....
