Come on...the text gives us quite a bit more to go on than that :) You're
really validating Scottie here by not giving Franny any credit. What she
experienced approaches joy -- a significant experience in Salinger's
fiction, I would think. At any rate, regardless of how you view Franny,
Zooey's speech represented the resolution of the problem...that, I think,
is the point.
