Re: salinger's problems with westeners

Beckett seemed to get especially annoyed whenever Anyone wanted to Nail
Down His Work to a specific meaning (say, Godot = God).

I think Salinger's attitude toward psychoanalysis greatly influenced his
attitude toward criticism. I think Salinger and Beckett shared similar
attitudes for very, very different reasons.
