Tim,

I know just what you mean, a documentary like this is bound to raise
expectations of a mention, but then, on the other hand, what forever has me
frothing at the mouth is that any book about a rebellious, adoloscent brings
forth comparisons to Holden. I don't know how many books I have ended up
picking up just on the basis of a mention of Holden in a blurb on the back
of the book.

For different reasons, though, I have been wanting to read the latest
Booker-winner, and predictably, there is a Holden reference in the New
Yorker piece on it:

http://www.newyorker.com/critics/books/?031027crbo_books1

"Vernon is a Holden Caulfield on amphetamines, with "lawless brown hair, the
eyelashes of a camel. big ole puppy-dog features like God made me through a
fucken magnifying glass. You know right away my movie's the one where I puke
on my legs."..."

But perhaps it has been mentioned here, as I haven't kept up with the recent
posts. Good to hear from you after some time, on the list - it's always a
pleasure.

Sonny
