Is the COVER of the book really that important?!! Maybe Salinger wants his readers to begin a work with absolutely no contrivances as to how the characters appear, etc. i kind of prefer them this way. Somehow i can't see a rosy cheeked studio art design of Holden. It would just ruin it somehow.
