it gets better--ray kinsella is the main character in "A Young Girl in l941 With No Waist At All" a story mr. salinger published in Mademoiselle in l947. I almost wrote to mr. Kinsella (the author) to see if he knew that he was already a salinger character and if that was part of why salinger is a character in _Shoeless Joe_. btw, I really enjoy kinsella's fiction.
