Okay Tim, Seeing as no one really mentioned it ;) Alanis is known for the song 'you outta know' which came out in 1995, which dealed, more or less, with broken heart, and being angry at a breakup.

*A lot* of females could relate to it. basically coming from the statute that men say "i love you baby, always and forever" here is a line from the song:

"does she know you told me that you would hold me till you died.."

"im here ..to remind you...of the mess you left when you went away.."

Anyways, a lot of female singers (the tori's, sarah's, ani's) of the world aren't quite so "angry" about their music. Alanis is. She tell is it how it is, more or less, in your face. Hitting that edge between the surralism of the whinygirlgroups and hardc
ore bands (ie: 7 year bitch).

Alanis's cd (jagged little pill) was quite popular for over a year. She' grown out of favor, as the other femme singers come into place (jewel, fiona, sarah, tori, dar, et al) and take their own. She (alanis) is really angry at the world. She served a pur
pose by covering an area that no one had covered, really, before. Most of the previous femme music was either ethereal, or hardcore. no "mainstream" was truly there to voice the angry riot grrl as well as alanis did ;)

This is not forsaken other femme artists. but, alanis has her place and she served it well ;)

you know us catholic school girls can be...

ttfn.
