Jon's good post made me think and share salinger's jabs at movies...the story upon which the movie was made, "Uncle Wiggily" is considered to be essential in Warren French's understanding of Salinger...basically, French talks about the differences between "phony" and "nice" and uses his distinctions in this story as a guide to his reading of each of the 9 stories...too bad the filmakers weren't as "text-guided" as mr. french! will
