I was never *bothered* by it, but I think it does make the story less 
interesting for me than it might have been. I'm all for talking about
spirituality and wisdom and all that but when a specific, organized
religion (which I have already examined and rejected for my own life)
comes into it, it strikes me as less touching than if they Franny and 
Zooey
were talking about something I could really relate to and maybe agree 
with.
Isn't it possible to find wisdom and love and beuaty and meaning from 
somewhere other than Jesus, Buddha, etc.?
