    I don't think it really matters what anyone's writing was based on. As a
kid, I apply my own beliefs to Salinger's writing like you say, and long
after this biography, other kids will apply theirs. And I'm sure we will all
get something different out if it. Salinger, like all writers, wanted to
evoke emotion through the common idea of exclusion. If the way he was able to
do this was by drawing from anti-Semitism, what difference does this make?
