As Scottie said so eloquently, my brain-box is a little rusty, still,
but I wanted to take the opportunity of this moment of clarity to send
a public thanks to all the kind people who wrote to me, in public and
in private, wishing me well and urging me to get better soon.

I am working on it. One measure of how far I've come in the last week
is that I'm typing this with about 90% accuracy, which is better than
I was doing when I got out of the hospital, when I was making roughly
a typo per word.

I am not going to get sentimental, but this list community means a lot
to me and it has helped form friendships and acquaintanceships and
attachments of many kinds, and has brought me into personal contact
with some wonderful people. For this I am grateful, and for your
collective good wishes I am also grateful, more than I can express.

In a few days more, I expect to be more collected, and at that time
I'll update the web site with the latest archives (something that has
fallen a bit behind), so please accept my apology for the delay. It
was something I couldn't help, but I should have it under control now.

So, thanks to everyone for pulling together on my behalf. It was kind
of you and thoughtful and generous, and I appreciate every bit of it.
I don't think there's much more for me to say, but if there were it
would be full of gratitude.

Cheers and regards from NYC,
