Burning All Bibles

Trade towers for a word
Where terror is not babel
Believe in today where there's
No standing by the wayside
To unite our paths
To marry love and respect
Together at last
To build this horrific moment
Into eons of time without hate
Let lost pages light the way
Beyond confusion
With rays of compassion
Digging souls and syllables
Out of our loss of what to say
Illuminating hope holding
With a hand of any kind
That lets night not frighten
The grace amazing us
In our darkest moment
Let those heroes be us all
Strong beyond the call of war
Standing tall and remembering
Our falling feet
Among the lost shoes
And tower floors crumbling
Too sad in their pull
Of body parts and tears
To want not to die
Yet listen to the corpses
Sing their charred loss
To cry our own disbelief
Of life as we know it
To feel fingers somehow
Sifting through this rubble
Steeling our existence,
In this dirt of the earth
Against each grain
We lean together burning
Upon a volcanic surface now
Forever crusting a new world
Extreme or sane
A vision of eyes closing
Exploding and
Praying all the same
