I have been considering using the "Unsubscribe" option for a long time,
since before the recent round of bickering and leave taking, but I won't say
that it didn't influence my decision to finally hang it up. To be honest I
don't really care to discuss Salinger anymore and all of the discussions I
have taken part in recently were about politics (at least I figured out what
my calling is).

Before I go I'd like to rescind any negative comments I may have made about
Colin Powell (I seem to remember something about the Gulf War popping up a
few months ago), especially if I said that he wasn't qualified to be the
Secretary of State. I have sorely underestimated the man and can now think
of no one else whom I'd rather have in that office, or any office for that
matter.

Some parting shots-

Zazie- I've thought about it, and the theory that Roosevelt knew that the
attack on Pearl Harbor was coming is ludicrous. If he knew, why didn't we
ambush the Japanese? We'd still be able to declare war & make the "bid for
power" AND the Japanese would be crippled, not us. Even if it was just such
a bid, if it weren't for that your country wouldn't exist and everyone in
Europe would be wearing jackboots and singing "Deutschland Uber Alles." You
don't have to like the U.S. but you could at least have some perspective.

Scottie- You are by far the hoopiest frood on the list. Damn the
torpedoes, full speed ahead!

Valerie- Thanks for seeing the humor in my posts. I dig French girls!

To all- take care and feel free to write anytime!

TTFN
