interesting..........
in many ways this group has acted like a microcosm of our greater social
surroundings (global or national, take yr pick)
the increased heat of the debate the accusations and rash replies
the taking sides in defense the self analysis and self blame
the slamming of doors the withdrawal
and yes it is sad
it was odd for me to hear zazie's apologies and assumption of blame for some
of the flying vitriol and 'in fighting' as i saw alot of the cracks begin to
appear after some of my postings which were blunt and unapologetically
provocative
i have a grim (somewhat misguided) view of 'literate types' (maybe
'literature enthusiasts?) as electing the ivory tower as a place of refuge,
complacently forsaking the ills of world for appreciation of words without
ever using the words as tools of enlightenment or tools to respond to the
dilemmas addressed
nonetheless, my timing stank
i was pissing in the eyes of a fallen man and expecting him to see the light
cynical and rude guilty as charged
in times of crisis i think we'll find tact is one of the 1st concepts to
dissapear and my postings, in refering back to the microcosm analogy, were
in effect, the hostile invasion that shattered the place of non hostile
intent ..
and it didn't take but a few harsh words to start the ball rolling
a place for writing appreciation became a place for defending all belief in
words and deeds
let us be thankful these are only words
tho they are mightier than the sword it is ultimately the sword that kills
you right?
so we have the most powerful medium for change at our very fingertips
and we appreciate this
let us not shy away from the opportunity to push thru this chaos and be a
positive force in rebuilding our understanding of the world
recognize the pain of others thru ourselves and work to provide salvation
for us all
