Dismissals of MFA programs pair so nicely with dismissals of "Lacanian
know-it-all critics." Such a relief to learn it's all so simple! What
is it about a university education that's so encumbering as to make
academics blind to truths the outside world handles so deftly?

P.S.:

"Sciolist" was show-offy, if felicitous, but "Lacanian know-it-all
critics" was clumsy. It suggests a ranting ignorance of English
departments, and probably of critics as well.
