I bet the majority of people on this list are near enough to a library
that at least has Sat. Eve Post on microfilm. And I can't help but
presume that the better part of the people who have emailed me (usually
cause Will has turned them away) over the past five years, their plaintive
requests ringing with urgency, earnestness, and the promise of infinite
goodwill, have libraries to go along with their .edu and .ac.uk addresses.

I'm not suggesting that with a little hard work, anyone could gather all
22 stories. But any industrious person driven by the old unquenchable
Salinger passion should be able to track down a good chunk of them. ILL
can handle a couple of requests at a time.
The larger point here involves consistency. The ardor of the typical
story-seeker never seems to pair with a willingness to pursue primary
resources. ILL and microfilm are dismissed because they don't return
immediate, nicely packaged results.
Il n'y a pas de hors texte,
Matt
