I always thought Lane had potential for seeing that he was a "section man".
Maybe later on he too read something that made him better. I don't think he
was calculating or anything like that. A while ago someone mentioned they
came across a blurb in another book about meeting a couple at a party who
were name Lane & Franny Cotterell (sp?). Maybe they became enlighten
together, got married, had kids, Franny became PTA president in Westchester
County, N.Y. and on warm summer evenings they sit on the deck with a lovely
little Merlot and remember the good times when all they cared about was
finding enlightenment or something like that and wasn't it easier then as
now it is so hectic driving the kids around and going to fund raising events
for the schools, etc., etc.
