I recall somebody a few days ago saying something about Hapworth, but I haven't been keeping tabs on the list so I don't know if a conversation still rages yet. I just read it. My analysis is that it's a lot like Seymour, but even more exclusive and personal. Full of little entertaining snippets, little stories within the story that are so endearing. I like it of course, but only because of my emotional attachment to Seymour I think. I fear that it won't be appreciated by everybody else. I think Salinger should collect some of his other stories, like the Soft-Boiled Sergeant or the Inverted Forest or Blue Melody or something. I think those would have wider appeal. Do you think that it is arrogant to publish stories like Seymour and Hapworth? A tribute to one's true fans
