Sounds like you're saying JDS *is* a pedophile (pedo = child, phile =
love).
Just not in the sexual sense (affairs with younger women
notwithstanding).

I'd like to believe there's no perversion in his characters.  (Well,
there's 
plenty, at not *that* type of perversion.)  But JDS apparently likes to
write
about young people, and their interactions with even younger people.  

We're in a day and age where we all have to walk on egg shells when it
comes to young children, lest something improper be read into our words 
and actions.  I'm sure this comes as a strain to many artists for whom
the subject of youth is a perfectly justifiable fascination.  In fact,
I wouldn't be surprised if the current trend toward political
correctness,
along with our obsession with tracking down violators of so-called
family 
values (like we used to do with alleged communist sympathizers), is one
of 
the (possibly many) reasons for JDS's reticence.
