Concerning Mr. Antolini and the episode in which Holden is staying at his apartment and wakes up to find Mr. Atolini "petting me or patting me on the goddam head". I recently saw the film "The Low Life" in which there is a nonchalant reference to Salinger, by the main character "Jon". I thought nothing of it at first but then near the end of the film Jon goes to someone's house (their relationship is not specified) which he knows, whom is not as considerably older but noticeably older than he, in the late hours of the night, after drinking, is covered by the man with a blanket and wakes to find him in the same situation as Holden and Mr. Antolini were. Jon leaves the house while this man is watching yet says nothing to him. Then Jon wanders the streets alone seemingly aimlessly and again says nothing. Also throughout this film their seems to be a slight "Holden air" about Jon. If anyone has seen this film let me know if I think too much about "The Catcher in the Rye" or if this is indeed a direct parallel.
