Simon Birch is the new movie based on the book. Although, it is not actually an adaptation. It focuses only on the Johnny and Owen characters ( the names are different, per Irving's request) as small boys. I'm very leary of this endeavor. I will probably see it though. Anyone out there read Widow for One Year yet? I just finished it, and it was the most disappointing thing I've read by Irving. I'm curious what reactions others have had. I told my friend that at least I've got a new least favorite Irving novel. It bumped Cider House Rules up the list one notch for me. A very excellent read, it might just have popped into my personal top ten. Coincidently there appears to be some sort of movie just out based on this book. Does anyone know anything about this? I thought is was odd timing that I read it and suddenly there comes a movie. Patti ----------
