I first encountered it in my school library (who had obviously been tended by a big Salinger fan at one point because all the books were there and even Salinger: A Critical And Personal Portrait - and this library was only one room in size!) I thought `Well, I'll read the first sentence and see if it catches me.' Needless to say, it did, straight away. I was sixteen at the time. I've never had an experience with a book where it has seemed more real; where time seemed to be passing at such a real rate and I felt so immersed in the events. Truly a life defining event. I bought my best friend a copy and naturally it wasn't long before we were refering to our friends as `Old Johnny, the bastard' (: Camille verona_beach@geocities.com @ THE ARTS HOLE www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Theater/6442 THE INVERTED FOREST www.angelfire.com/pa/invertedforest
