It's difficult to > reconcile Buddy with Salinger. That's what I couldn't handle about Hamilton's book - he seemed to see Salinger on one hand as a construct, and on the other hand as a small animal into whose burrow he would happily poke bits of straw until he came out, teeth and claws bared, for his own amusement. Luke's approach was quite the opposite. I have a lot more respect for Luke than Ian Hamilton - especially as for Luke it was a selfless act, whereas one of the things I resented most was his proclaimation that `Salingers name and mine are now irrevocably twined in history, you'll never think of one without the other' etc etc (which is bullshit anyway). > I wondner whether the exchange is represented in its entirety. I wondered about that too. Seems rather abrupt, doesn't it? Anyway Luke, thank you for your efforts and kudos to you. I know who'll end up with the better karma (: Camille verona_beach@geocities.com @ THE ARTS HOLE www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Theater/6442 THE INVERTED FOREST www.angelfire.com/pa/invertedforest
