Yep, there's some identification there, but of course I can't compare
myself to people who have been publishing regularly for 10 or 20 or 30
years. Even if I felt I could, I wouldn't identify myself as an
intellectual publicly. At least, not in a forum broader than this one.
It's the kiss of death. Makes you almost afraid to push the three
syllable limit in your vocabulary.

Perhaps I should have said "vocab."

When I was being taught to write for mainstream media (not by
intellectuals, but by mainstream media people) I was told not to write
past the 7th grade level.
