Will, no, I am *not* suggesting that I think Muriel or Franny *are* Claire
Douglas or that it is entirely biographical or anything--just pointing out
how it all fits well together. Franny of "Franny", a wedding gift of
sorts, is documented to be patterned loosely after Claire in, if I
remember right, Sonny: An Introdcution, as well as in French, right down
to being hung up on the Jesus prayer, and the colour of their suitcases.
Actually, I started off by being rather tongue-in-cheek, but the more I
think about it--perhaps, *because* of it, what with examiner's bias and
what not--the more plausible it seems.
