Muriel strikes me as a rather shallow persom, a blank slate. Perhaps Seymour
felt he could impress himself upon her. Or perhaps she was so childlike this
was the appeal, since he clearly appreciated childlike traits. I have always
thought them to be mismatched. Another thought is that for some time those
around him had been trying to help him conform. This may have been an
attempt. Seymour seemed to have a realy need to please, and maybe by
choosing this very predictable girl he was pleasing someone. These are just
some random thoughts on my part, feel free to tear them apart!
