I speak for nobody else, but in my case it wasn't sarcasm. It was just a
limp kind of shrug; some people would say "Whatever." I've just been
startled at the odd turn of events. I didn't and don't know what to make
of it, and have more or less lost interest....

I **agree** -- I think that's why I am startled by the weird turn of
events. Sad, too. But as I said, "Whatever." There are many other things
to worry about.... I hope Scottie continues his feisty self, and have no
doubt he will. (Right, Scottie?) But sometimes people react to it -- so
that kind of back-and-forth is going to lead to more of the same. In the
big picture, it doesn't amount to a whole lot.

Shrug again, I fear. I don't have such strong opinions about these things,
but thought that if we are all talking about disorders -- our own,
Holden's, L. Manning Vines's -- it would be interesting to consider what an
expert on the subject thought. (And I was entertained by both his manner
and his knowledge of Salinger's work.)

I'm the first to admit, and don't hesitate to say it, that I've had to deal
with problems through many ways, and have come to know people peripherally
in the course of it. It seemed to me intriguing. But beyond that, nada y
nada y pues nada.

I'm not sure what you mean 8-), but I'm genuinely not interested in causing
more uproar. Some people take medicine; some people die from it. Some
people talk. Some people pray. Some smoke dope. Some jump off buildings.
And some carry obscure German handguns on vacation to Florida.

No desire for war or anything like that here. Scottie, if I've offended
you (which I find hard to believe!), I did not intend to. Everyone else,
if you puke at the talk of psychiatric treatment, please just ignore all
this. Me, I need to get a new toothbrush.*

*Seriously. The old one ended up in the toilet.
