I completely forgot one more pre-eminent angst text! Search out a book (pretty obscure, it may be difficult to find) called `14 Stories' by a guy named Heinrich Boll. This is one of the finest collections of short stories you are ever likely to read. `In The Valley of the Thundering Hooves' is teen angst par excellence; `Murke's Collected Silences' is just par excellence. Boll, you might be interested to know, is sometimes called the German Salinger (which is what alerted him to me in the first place) as his books and styles share many of Salinger's themes, and it was he who prepared TCIR's German translation. You must search `14 Stories' out, it is one of those reading experiences that make you eternally glad you learned to read.
