Actually, there's a parallel discussion about Virginia Woolf--I've read
several articles and known severla Woolf experts who believe she could 
have
been cured by modern drugs.  VW's bouts with mental balance may well have
sprung from being molested at a young age by a step-brother (or was it a
cousin?) and she may have benefited from both modern drugs or modern
consciousness and therapy, but I also wonder what happens to her art if
she's ok?  The muse is sometimes fickel and not always coming from our
most healthy regions...

Would holden be as intersting to us if Carl Luce had simply used his dad's
perscription pad and given Holden some prozac?
