Hello one and all,

You are hereby invited to come to http://www.whiteshoe.org -- The White
Shoe Irregular -- and check out a little piece I've written:

http://www.whiteshoe.org/prose/072800stingconcert.html

You may also find this new Online Journal of sorts intersting because of
a peculiarity the title and some of the names of the authors:

- The editor of the site writes "[What] about the White Shoe part [of
the title]? Maybe we’ll explain that someday, too." Because I'm a
curious fellow and because I think I recognize white-shoe from a
Salinger story, I do a little investigating and sure enough, what do I
find in our beloved Zooey? Read on:

"Phooey," he said, and resumed using his razor. "Phooey, I say, on all
white-shoe college boys who edit their campus literary magazines. Give
me an honest con man any day."

- Also, if you check out the site today, the main page:
http://www.whiteshoe.org/main.html you'll see a piece by "Ray Ford" --
the name of a character from The Inverted Forrest -- which along with
the "white-shoe" reference in the title, I'm assuming, isn't a
coincidence.

I haven't noticed any other references, but I wouldn't be surprised to
find that the editor is a bananafish himself...

After reading some of the pieces on the site, I'm sure that some or all
of you have something you'd like to contribute (check out the submission
guidelines: http://www.whiteshoe.org/submit.html). I was pleasantly
surprised to stumble upon the site and have a piece up so quickly upon
submission.

So what are you doing still reading this post, go immediately to
http://www.whiteshoe.org (yes I feel some sort of weighty obligation to
throw readers/writers by way of the site because it is an upstart
journal and I'd like to keep any place that's a Salinger fan [and also
willing to post my work on their site] alive and well).

Josh

This might well be my first post that isn't a reply; I searched through
my messages to see what kind of salutation I might have used in the past
and found none. So in honor of my first post and general salutation I
will from hereafter shed any "newcomer" .sig.
