For those of you yearning to get a good look at some writing done by,
what may or may not be, a more culturally and economically diverse
group of youths, I would advise you to check out
"Do the Write Thing" - 
 a publication free of charge issued by the US Department of Justice,
Office for Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (I know, it's the
feds and all ) ; it's filled with a heavy dose of reality. I doubt it' s even
government propaganda. It's a compilation of essays done by students,
touching on a number of great subjects. 
(I thought it might be interesting for some of you higher ed teachers out
there...)
