There is sentimentality and there is sentimentality, Tory. Why the
sentimentality of 'West Side Story', of 'Love Story' and of 'Cinema
Paradiso' moves me despite all the objections one might have, and the
sentimentality of Saving Private Ryan only makes me want to puke, is a
subject calling for a good bottle of wine and a nice evening discussion. So
I will not go into it here.

However, I'll recommend everyone to see the Thin Red Line. But get a good
night's sleep before you do. I watched it with a Friday night's premiere
crowd of mainly teenagers expecting a war movie, and I'm afraid they were a
bit disappointed.
