In my NEXT life, I'm going to learn Swedish (which always sounds to me like
audio tape being played backwards....)

Cheers,

OSR--What's an approximate translation of THE CATCHER IN THE RYE, from
darkest Swedish back into incomprehensible English? (aside--One of the most
WONDERFUL filmic experiences I've ever had was watching the fabulous black
and white Russian version of KING LEAR in silly, sentimental Scotland....
Sorry Scottie, but serious things can happen in Caledonia, too.....
Shakespeare's English had been translated into Russian by Boris
Pasternak.... Since I could virtually recite the orginal backwards, I had
an absolute ball reading the English subtitles--which were an ersatz modern
English translation of Pasternak's Russian translation of Shakespeare's
Elizabethan English!)

I've said here before that the French "L'attrape-coeurs" is woefully inadequate.
