Wow, I read "Catcher" for the first time around 8th or
9th grade too. It was one of the books my cousin
recommended to me. Being an Asian, I always looked up
to my older cousin because he did stuff like play
drums in a punk band(and was the lead singer too!),
read all these crazy books, and went skateboarding
everywhere. I find it sad and depressing when the only
time "Catcher" seems to get much notice anymore is
when some obsessed reader uses it as an excuse to kill
someone. I mean I guess I can see how someone could
get like that, but it's just sad that many people know
"Catcher in the Rye" as just some book that an
obsessed fan carried with him before killing John
Lennon. Anyway, I love lennon, salinger, caulfield,
and all that good stuff. Peace:)
