You know, one of the last things I remarked to Mr. Kozusko at the
the door to my office building a short while ago went something like:

"You know, I will probably post a short report to the list. But
don't worry, it will be short - I'm not Paul"

This was of course said with a certain gentleman's recollections of
zooming around Chicago hiding in the back of my head.

I was very happy to have met with Matt in Penn Station. We took seats
in the waiting room, at first under the deliberate self-delusion that
other bfish might show up, and then stayed while Matt drank two coffees
(I relinquish my caffeine crown) under the pretext that I probably
should be getting back to work soon... "Soon" became two hours of
delightful gossip mostly concerning all of the private emails
and gifs you've all sent me - no, no, that was a joke. We discussed
the first topic that seems to come up at these meetings, which is how
no one is *ever* how you imagined he or she will be, so I think you had
better abandon the ten-gallon hat image for Mr. K and the Brooklyn
accent for me. The discussion ranged from recent personal history, to
list dynamics (activity, types of posts, a little about the posters)
to J.D. Salinger (remember him) to religion to literature. And
I even found out what that french tag line means (there, John).

All in all, Mr. Kosuzko is quite a gentleman (though you would do well
for questioning my authority on such matters) and I enjoyed myself.

I guess I really do have to get back to work.

all the best,
Mattis
