I know
it makes no sense, but when I teach little, cramped
paperback novels or the
big anthologies with tissue paper pages and tiny type
or even standard size
paperbacks, the kid's attention wanders more easily
.................................

It makes perfect sense to me. Pocket paperbacks can
turn a classroom into a claustrum.*
The eyes need space to play while the prose paints
pictures on the brain pan canvas behind our eye
sockets.
