Subject: Hamilton Obituary

Yesterday's NYtimes ran the obit with the headline "Ian Hamilton, 63,
Whose Salinger Book Caused a Stir, Dies." I thought this was
interesting since Hamilton had done so many other things as a writer
that seemed more central to who he was. Despite being a recluse,
Salinger's name is so newsworthy. I think it's ironic that Salinger
is so centrally linked to Hamilton in the obit--"Searching for JDS"
ends with the better known writer obscuring the work of the lesser
known writer. will
