Try striking up a sports conversation in the faculty lounge. It's the
social-stimulus equivalent of wrestling with soggy bread. I like books
as much as the next person, but surely one can be both a thickheaded
sports fan and a delicate intellectual? After all, a good football game
is a ballet in armor, an enthralling combination of art and brawn.
