Oh goodness gracious, you've found my Achilles Heel.

I hate that bloody "error," and I'll never understand why that paltry
little word makes such a big deal out of it'self. Is that one of those
rules that got neglected in the undertow of the Great Vowel Shift?

In my defense, your honor, I must make it perfectly clear to the court
that I absolutely never ascribe action to the word, I only give it stuff.
Therefore, if I may continue it's acquisitive yet paralyzed existence I
will promise to prove that I do have a home to go to.
