Coolness and objectivity the "endlessly longed for desiderata of all
scholars"? Dear Ja, what *have* you been reading? Not minutia of the
Royal Society again! Northrop Frye? Ee-em-dubya Tillyard? Nobody
bothers with the old "objectivity" monolith anymore.

In addition to being out of fashion, objectivity is currently seen to
border on intellectual dishonesty. And I'm afraid it's not at all
compatible with "coolness."
