Please, for the love of God, don't drag the double standard into this list. I know 14 is a little young to grasp the idea, but is it possible that a female can admire a male musician or author without being labeled, or labeling oneself, a groupie? How is Franny insane or knocked up? Oh yeah, Franny is a female and had sex and shares a disgust with humanity along with Holden Caulfield. She's positively nuts. I guess that's why we "love" Franny in a nice condescending way. I don't think Franny is any more "insane" than Holden. She has to have her Mr. Antolini come along in the form of Zooey to help set things straight for her, yes, but she's not insane. If anyone wants to stone me for protesting the sexual double standard, feel free to get your rock. I'm goddamn sick and tired of it, and Erinn's post pretty much set me off. I mean, why doesn't Holden start screaming "I was a good boy, wasn't I, wasn't I?!!" after the prostitute leaves his hotel room? That's what disappointed me in Uncle Wiggily-Eloise wishing she was a "nice girl." What's with this "nice girl" stuff? Bring on the rocks, Cheryl
