RE: no French, please, we're Murrican

I remember Patton saying in French, "Audacity, audacity, always, audacity",
as far as I know it was the only thing of lasting signicance that he left
Gaul with. Concerning his Francophillia, you can't but help notice the
brand of dirt sticking to your boots in exciting times, not counting the
myriad of things a bar of chocolate bought.

"Great American boy-men", the dirty lenses of Twain and Hemingway, yes to be
as a child is a splendid thing, one of which allows for an excellent view
but Ernie and Sammy were hardly unadulterated experts concerning children,
especially since Ernie's own hardly new him apart from an upturned bottle.
Crayfish, dams, and lizards still hold their charm. It reminds me of an
exchange between two Englishmen; one read an awful lot of science fiction
and fantasy and the other mocked him saying "that's all a bunch of
escapism", and the the reply was "why are you so worried about escapism
unless you are a jailer". Now, my back slapping Scottish poet, is there
still a boy in you or is all your electronic joshing a bunch of bad
digestion, you know, too much acid. I suppose for a Doc anything that odd
needs 'splaining' before it can be properly filed away.

Robbie pointed out that the whole French thing was a ribald beauty, I guess
I should have known, why else would an Irish Scotsman write in French, I
mean it was French and you aren't. I have my files too.

Robbie, as far as allies go, you can't beat Scottie. I'm smiling thinking
of him defending your honor. But other peoples poems? Come on now, I
noticed no qualms with your adaptation of Scotties wager. Anyway, I am glad
(very) that you partook of my New Mexico, just put it back when your done.
It's still not to late to play, plenty of daylight.

Daniel
An 'Merican - Thank God but much more as far as place names go: a New
Mexican.

With his Huckish memories of crayfish & dams & lizards,
it begins to sounds ominously as if Daniel may be what
Hem used to call one of those 'great American boy-men.'

Nothing - from anybody - could have made me feel more
flattered, though, than Robbie's comment. The only thing
that came near was a similar note from 3rd Army Headquarters.
It was from that old Francophile cissy, George S. Patton.
(Who didn't have to use a dictionary.)

    Scottie B.
