Historically, it's not that hard to beat an incumbent when the economy is
weak, especially when a strong third party comes into the mix that largely
drew votes away from Bush. What democrat, what liberal, is going to vote for
a die hard capitalist like Perot?

It was personality and some talent on Bill's part, yes, but a heck of a lot
of good luck.
